     Ebenezer Bancroft was born on 5 September 1775 in Lynn, Essex Co., Massachusetts.1 He married Nancy Sargent on 20 June 1796.2 He died on 30 July 1825 in Lynn, Essex Co., Massachusetts, at age 49.2
     He was a cordwainer (shoemaker).2 He and Nancy had the following known children, all born in Lynn, Essex Co., Massachusetts: John Stocker (b 5 December 1796), Amos Ballard (b 23 August 1799), Samuel Sargent (b 24 August 1801, d 25 February 1844), Anna Sprague (b 8 December 1803), Ebenezer Holmes (b 19 May 1806, d 16 April 1819), Sarah Ballard (b 31 March 1809), Martha Rhodes (b 8 October 1811, d February 1839), James Strong (b 26 March 1815), Susan Thompson (b 18 December 1818).2

     Sarah Upton was born on 6 November 1757.1 She married Job Bancroft, son of John Bancroft and Eve Hawkes, on 10 January 1782 in Reading, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts.1 She died on 21 October 1803 in Salem, Essex Co., Massachusetts, at age 45.1
     After her death, Benjamin Upton was appointed administrator of her estate, and Deacon Saunderson was named guardian of her children.1

     John Bancroft was born on 25 January 1682 in Lynn, Essex Co., Massachusetts.1 He married first Mary Clarke, daughter of Thomas Clarke and Mary Swaine, on 19 April 1704.1 He married second Mary Brington on 19 December 1724.1 He died on 20 December 1768 at age 86.1
     He was a bricklayer, housewright (accomplished house carpenter), and yeoman (farmer).1 About 1756 he took in his three-year-old nephew John Bancroft (son of his brother Timothy, whose wife Elizabeth had died), who later became indentured to him.3

     Hannah Bancroft was born on 28 September 1728 in Lynn, Essex Co., Massachusetts.1 She died on 23 July 1738 at age 9.1
