     He lived in the Poynton House on Brown Street in Salem, Essex Co., Massachusetts.² He served as clerk of courts in Salem.² He was also a member of the Philosophical Library Company in Salem, which was founded in 1781.² His will was dated 4 December 1806 and proved 24 March 1808. His sister Bridget was the executrix.² He and Elizabeth had two known children, Thomas Poynton (b 20 December 1798, d 16 March 1852) and Nathaniel (b 24 May 1800, d 20 June 1800).^2,3

     Elizabeth Ives was born on 15 December 1767 in Salem, Essex Co., Massachusetts.¹ She married Thomas Bancroft, son of Nathaniel Bancroft and Mary Taylor, on 10 November 1797 (or 10 December 1797).¹ She died on 13 January 1801 at age 33.¹
     She and Thomas had two known children, Thomas Poynton (b 20 December 1798, d 16 March 1852) and Nathaniel (b 24 May 1800, d 20 June 1800).^1,2

     John Bancroft was born on 2 March 1656 (or possibly 3 March) in Reading, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts.¹ He married first Elizabeth Eaton, daughter of John Eaton and Elizabeth Kendall, on 24 September 1678.¹ He married second Hannah Wayte, daughter of John Wayte and Mary Hills, on 29 October 1708 in Boston, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts.¹ He died on 25 January 1739/40 in Lynn End, Essex Co., Massachusetts, at age 83.¹
     He joined the church in Reading, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, on 1 September 1677.¹ On 30 December 1687 he bought 20 acres of land adjoining his father's property from Ann Collins and her son Henry.¹ On 28 April 1691 he received a portion of the family homestead from his father.¹
     On 11 May 1691 he was appointed guardian of Jonathan Stimpson.¹
     On 16 January 1711 the people of Lyn Farms met at his house to form a precinct and order a meeting house. He was one of a three-man committee chosen to set the precinct boundaries.¹

     Elizabeth Eaton was born on 8 September 1662 in Reading, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts.¹ She married John Bancroft, son of Thomas Bancroft and Elizabeth Metcalf, on 24 September 1678.¹ She died on 12 March 1704/5 at age 42.¹
     She joined the church in Reading, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, on 21 April 1678.¹

     She was dismissed from the church in Malden, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, and joined the First Parish Church in Reading, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, on 14 November 1714.¹

     Raham Bancroft was born on 9 February 1685 in Lynn End, Essex Co., Massachusetts.¹ He married Abigail Aborne, daughter of Moses Aborne and Abigail Gilbert, on 2 November 1717.² He died on 19 December 1717 at age 32.²
