He was a shipmaster, engaged in foreign trade.2 On 2 June 1755 he bought 12 rods of land in Newbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts, from Benjamin Peirce for £33 5s. 8d.3 His widow Abigail was appointed administrator of his estate on 16 February 1756.4
