In 1665 Thomas Stickney received a bounty of £2 10s. from the town of Rowley, Essex Co., Massachusetts, for killing a wolf.2
On 12 December 1670 ("10, 12, 1670") 56 acres in Boxford, Essex Co., Massachusetts, to the north of the road to Ipswich, were laid out to him from his father's rights. He also received an additional 66 acres on the south side of the Ipswich Road.2
He took an oath of fidelity to the government on 25 May 1669, an oath of allegiance on 10 December 1678, and another oath of fidelity in Bradford, Essex Co., Massachusetts, on 16 December 1678.2 He served as surveyor of highways and fences in Bradford in 1676, 1677, and 1695.2 He became a freeman on 21 July 1685.2
On 8 May 1693 he bought three acres of meadow, plus ten additional acres of land, all in Boxford, from the widow Elizabeth Deane for £21 in money and provisions.3 On 2 March 1694/95 he with eight others bought 70 to 80 acres of salt marsh on Plumb Island in Rowley from Mrs. Margaret Corwin for a total of £90.4
On 24 September 1695 he and three others were defendants in a suit brought by heirs of Richard Langhorn, charged with witholding from them about 100 acres of pasture and meadow in Boxford. The defendants failed to appear in court, and the land was awarded to the plaintiffs. About six months later, on 31 March 1696, Amos Marrett and his wife Bethiah, who had been plaintiffs in the suit, sold the land to Thomas Stickney and two of the other defendants for £38, 10s.5
In 1704 he was chosen to ensure that Rev. Zach. Symms "received proper maintenance" for serving as minister in Bradford.2 He was also appointed tythingman in 1706.2
On 18 October 1710 he and John Hutchins sold an acre called Rose Island in Salisbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts, to Jonathan Kimball for £15.6
