     John Morse was born on 14 December 1719 in Newbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts.² He married as his second wife Mary Woodbury on 12 September 1749.²
     He was married twice, but the name of his first wife is not known. The Morse genealogy by Morse and Leavitt says that his first wife was the mother of his children. However, H. D. Lord attributes his daughter Hannah to his second wife Mary Woodbury, with a birth date of 17 August 1750.^2,3 He had the following known children: Hannah (d 28 December 1828), Jeremiah, Ruth, Abigail (b 12 September 1748).²

     Mary Woodbury married John Morse, son of Samuel Morse and Elizabeth March, on 12 September 1749.² She died in 1750.²
