He was a tailor.2 Some sources say he first lived in Boston, then Newbury, and possibly in Rowley, but given the dates of various land sales and his children's births, it's likely he stayed in Newbury until about 1665.2 At about that time he moved to Elizabeth Town, New Jersey, where he took an oath of allegiance on 19 February 1665.2 He received a land grant of 202 acres, including upland and meadows, and a six-acre home lot on the Elizabeth River.2 He sold all his land in Newbury on 12 July 1667.3 On 26 September 1681 he transferred a tract of land on the Elizabeth River to his son-in-law William Broadwell.2 On 24 June 1686 he bought 150 additional acres, and continued buy and sell land until 1700.2

He is listed in the Morse genealogy as "son of Anthony and Elizabeth Morse," apparently mistakenly, since the same genealogy lists his father Anthony's wives as Mary and Ann.2
He was a weaver.2 He moved to Elizabeth, New Jersey, with his brother Robert, where he took the Oath of Allegiance on 19 February 1665.2 He received a six-acre home lot there next to Robert's.2 On 30 May 1678 he received additional lands totaling 224 acres.2 On 18 October 1685 he and his wife Mary deeded part of his home lot, plus all the buildings in Elizabeth to his brother Robert.2
His will was dated 26 October 1701 in Essex Co., New Jersey, and probated on 8 May 1702. His sons Amos and Joshua were named executors. He left 140 acres of uplands and meadows to be equally divided between his sons Joseph, Amos, and Joshua, taking into account the land already given to Joseph. His freehold lands in Elizabeth were to be equally divided among those three sons, plus his son Robert. Robert also received sixty acres of upland and 6 acres of meadow in Elizabeth. He left "the other half" of his boat to his son Amos. Each of his daughters Mary, Sarah, and Hannah were left £14. His granddaughter Mary, daughter of his son Joseph, was left a 3-year-old heiffer with calf.2
