He served as an Ensign in the British army, apparently in 1755. He is listed in a muster roll dated 28 February 1756 in Capt. Samuel Flint's Co., and "entered service 9 Sept., served until 30 Oct., length of service 7 weeks 3 days." The year of service isn't given, but the endorsement 1755 is present, and he was reported as "Died." This company was part of Col. Plaisted's Regt. in the Crown Point expedition.3

He was captured during the Revolution and sent to Pembroke Prison in 1779, then to Mill Prison on 14 October 1780. He and 14 others were loaded onto a man-of-war on 5 June 1781, but never arrived home. His mother's will says "he has long been missing and she is afraid of never hearing from him again."3 On 13 April 1786 Asa Leach was appointed administrator of his estate, and Nathan Leach was named guardian of his children Huldah and Andrew.3

He was listed as a member of Capt. Parker's Co. on 19 April 1775.1 He was shot by a Britich soldier "in a cowardly and brutal manner" at Munroe Tavern.1
