     Jacob Gould was born on 6 February 1728/29 in Boxford, Essex Co., Massachusetts.^1,2 He married Elizabeth Towne, daughter of Richard Towne and Elizabeth Bixby, on 24 October 1751 (according to church records; Topsfield town records say 27 October 1751) in Topsfield, Essex Co., Massachusetts.^3,2 He died on 2 September 1809 (the Bixby genealogy says 2 September 1799) in Boxford, Essex Co., Massachusetts, at age 80.^1,2
     He led a company in Col. Samuel Johnson's Regiment that marched from Boxford to Lexington on 19 April 1775.^3,2 He and Elizabeth had the following known children: Jacob (b 28 April 1752, d 25 July 1753), Richard (b 15 June 1753, d 30 January 1754), Ruth (b 22 January 1755, d 1822), Elizabeth (b 12 December 1756, d 1814), Edna (b 17 March 1759, d 1818), Susanna (b 13 February 1761, d 24 January 1825), Jacob (b 2 September 1764, d 1849), Lois (b 1 November 1766, d 1824), Sarah (bap 18 December 1768, d young), Kezia (b 24 October 1770, d 1842), Huldah (b 21 December 1744, d 1846), John (b 11 July 1778, d 1864).^3,2
