John Byxby and his son Robert served together on the manorial court jury from 1554 to 1556.1
His will was dated 24 Sep 1556 (sic), and proved on 26 March 1558. After the death of his wife Alice, his son Nicholas was to have various parcels of land totaling about 15 1/2 acres, provided he pay £6 13s 4d to his (Nicholas's) sister Margaret within three years after Alice's death. The rest of his land was to go to his son Thomas, provided he pay £6 13s 4d to his (Thomas's) brother Robert within three years; otherwise the land was to go to Robert, who was to pay Thomas. The rest of his moveables were to go to his wife Alice to be distributed among their children however she wished. The executors were his wife Alice and "Robert Byxby at Wood," who was to receive 6s 8d for his efforts.1

Her will was dated 2 September 1558 and proved on 12 September 1558. She left household items and livestock to her children and various grandchildren, and to her god-daughter Rose Byxbie. Her son Nicholas was named executor.1
