The identification of her father as Josiah Horsford (and hence her surname) is based on the fact that Josiah Horsford of Williamstown, Massachusetts, deeded land to her in 1783.1 In 1751 she and her husband Samuel moved to Falls Village, Litchfield Co., Connecticut, where he had received a half-acre lot and house from John Horsford.1

He and his wife Sally probably moved to Cayuga Co., New York, in 1808, as she was dismissed from the church in Falls Village, Litchfield Co., Connecticut, to the one in Aurelius, Cayuga Co., on 22 May 1808.2 On 18 April 1811 he bought 100 acres of land in Brutus, Cayuga Co., New York, from Samuel Sackett.2
