     Minnie Smith was born about 1867 in Orion, Oakland Co., Michigan.¹ She was married by Elmer R. Webster, Justice of the Peace, to Lewis Orin Phillips, son of Alfred W. Phillips and Elmira Eldridge, on 11 May 1884 in Pontiac, Oakland Co., Michigan.¹
     Although they were married in Oakland Co., Michigan, she and her husband Lewis soon returned to his home in Nebraska, where their son Alfred was born in March 1885.^2,3 She and Lewis had three known children, Alfred (b March 1885), Frank L. (b 9 September 1886, d 1 October 1886) and Mattie (b abt 1892).^2,3,4,5,6

     Harriet A. Harmon was born in November 1862 in Canada (her marriage record erroneously says Michigan).^2,3,4,5 She married first Willard Lucien Phillips, son of Charles S. Phillips and Ellen A. Weston, on 12 April 1881 in North Branch, Lapeer Co., Michigan.^5,1 She married second William T. Hockema on 12 January 1928 in Benton Co., Oregon.⁶ She died on 25 November 1932 in Polk Co., Oregon.⁷ She was buried (as Harriet A. Phillips) at Fircrest Cemetery in Polk Co., Oregon.⁸
     She and her first husband Willard moved to Oregon sometime between 1885, when their daughter Nellie was born in Michigan, and 1900², when they are listed in the census in Luckiamute Prec., Polk Co., Oregon.² They were living in Monmouth, Polk Co., Oregon, in 1910^3,1 and in Pedee Prec., Polk Co., Oregon, in 1920.⁴ They may have been running a boarding house in 1920, as they had five boarders living with them, and in the census her occupation was listed as cook for a boarding house.⁴
     She and her second husband William were living in Monmouth in 1930.⁹
     She and her first husband Willard had the following known children: Ruth Inez (b 26 April 1882, d 4 June 1882), Charles Robert (b 18 July 1883, d 29 November 1958), Nellie Ann (b 9 April 1885, d 24 June 1956).^1,10,11,12

     Barlow E. Phillips was born on 9 June 1870 in Lapeer Co., Michigan.² He was married by Thos. Young, Minister, to Nettie L. Smart, daughter of Asa Smart and Mary McDonald, on 1 March 1891 in Gresham, Eaton Co., Michigan.¹ He died in 1949.⁴ He was buried at Gresham Cemetery in Vermontville, Eaton Co., Michigan.⁴
     In the 1880 census, Barlow E. Phillips was listed with his mother's parents L. W. and Jane Hildreth, neighbors to his own parents, in Chester, Eaton Co., Michigan.⁵
     He and his wife Nettie lived in Chester Twp., Eaton Co., Michigan, probably all their married lives.^6,7,8,9 He was a farmer^6,7,8, and in 1910 a hired man, Theodore Bauer, was living with them.⁷

     Ralph W. Phillips was born on 5 August 1872 in Chester, Eaton Co., Michigan.¹ He was married by E. H. Harbridge, Clergyman, to Bessie M. Hubbard, daughter of Robert Hubbard and Nettie Fields, on 15 April 1897 in Chester, Eaton Co., Michigan.⁵ They were divorced on 23 February 1922 (filed by Bessie on 12 November 1919) in Ingham Co., Michigan.² He died in 1949.⁶ He was buried at Gresham Cemetery in Eaton Co., Michigan.⁶
     He and his wife Bessie were living in Chester Twp., Eaton Co., Michigan, in 1900⁷, and in Walton Twp., Eaton Co., in 1910.⁸ He was a farmer in 1900, and ran a general store in 1910.^7,8 He may be the Ralph W. Phillips who was living in 1930 as a boarder, with nine others, in the household of Francis Gildersleeve in Lansing, Ingham Co., Michigan, listed in the census as married but without his wife⁹, and working as a real estate salesman.⁹

Benedict, Justice of the Peace, to Emma Conklin, daughter of George Conklin and Elizabeth Forest, on 11 May 1905 in Vermontville, Eaton Co., Michigan.⁶ They were divorced on 5 February 1917 (filed by Clyde on 12 August 1916) in Eaton Co., Michigan.⁷ He was married second, by William H. Phelps, Dist. Supt. of the M. E. Church, to Clara E. Fox, daughter of Anthony Fox, on 10 April 1917 in Lansing, Ingham Co., Michigan.⁸ He died in 1937.⁹ He was buried at Mount Hope Cemetery in Ingham Co., Michigan.⁹

     Frank Bert Phillips was born on 11 May 1876 in Michigan.^1,3 He was married by G. D. Chase, Clergyman, to Ina Mae Heistand, daughter of George W. Heistand and Lucia Dewitt, on 23 November 1898 in Charlotte, Eaton Co., Michigan.⁵ He died in October 1926 at age 50 from black lung disease contracted while working for the railroad.^6,7 He was buried on 29 October 1926 at Oak Hill Cemetery (Section T, Lot 10, Rt. 9) in Calhoun Co., Michigan.⁶
     After their marriage, Frank Bert Phillips and his wife Ina lived for a time with her parents in Benton, Eaton Co., Michigan.⁸ In 1910 they were living in Marshall Twp., Calhoun Co., Michigan.⁹ They moved to Battle Creek, Calhoun Co., and were living at 23 Newark Ave. in 1920.¹⁰ He was working as a farmer in 1900 and 1910, and railroad shop machinist in 1920.^8,9,10

     Emma Conklin was born on 11 July 1874 in Portage, Kalamazoo Co., Michigan.^1,3 She married first Charles Franklin Harrison on 26 August 1897 in Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo Co., Michigan.⁴ Emma and Charles both filed for divorce, Emma on 18 August 1903 charging extreme cruelty, and Charles two days later charging desertion. Charles's case was contested, and left pending on 1 September 1903. Emma's case was uncontested, and granted on 7 November 1903.^5,6 She was married second, by William H. Benedict, Justice of the Peace, to Clyde Donald Phillips, son of Oscar F. Phillips and Mary E. Hildreth, on 11 May 1905 in Vermontville, Eaton Co., Michigan.⁷ They were divorced on 5 February 1917 (filed by Clyde on 12 August 1916) in Eaton Co., Michigan.⁸ She was married third, by J. Calvin Meese, Minister, to Harvey Lee on 6 February 1919 in Grand Rapids, Kent Co., Michigan.³

     She was working as a clerk at the time of her marriage to Clyde Phillips in 1917.¹ She and her second husband Clyde lived in Charlotte, Eaton Co., Michigan.^3,4

     Lafayette W. Eldred was born about 1836 in New York.^1,2 He married Maria Phillips, possibly the daughter of Luke P. Phillips and Patience Simmons, on 7 December 1859 in Oakland Co., Michigan.¹
