He and his wife Hannah lived in Montville, New London Co., Connecticut, near the cove at Uncasville.2 They had the following known children: Jason (b 2 May 1739), William (b 2 November 1741, d bet 1790 and 1800), Sarah (b 7 November 1743, d 9 May 1811), James (b 19 September 1745, d young), Elizabeth (bap 5 January 1748), James (b 7 February 1750, d 12 October 1842), Simeon (b 1756).6,3
The genealogy by Cyrus Comstock says James Comstock's wife Hannah Allen was the daughter of Samuel and Lydia (Hastings) Allen, but gives the same parents for Gideon Comstock's wife Hannah Allen. The more recent genealogy by John Comstock says both James and Gideon married Hannah Allen, but doesn't give the parents for Gideon's wife. Assuming the other information presented for the two families is correct, it's likely that the Hannah Allen who married James Comstock wasn't the same Hannah Allen who married Gideon Comstock.7,8

But, the genealogy by John Comstock says the monument has a death date of 6 September 1783. An online picture of the monument itself appears to have the date 6 September 1768, but the picture is low resolution, and when magnified indicates that the year may by 1783 as reported by John Comstock. In any case, the 1781 date must be correct if he was killed in the battle.
