John Adolph Carlson was born on 5 October 1886 in Veinge, Laholm, Halland Co., Sweden.4,2 He married Josephine Hanson, daughter of Hans Svensson and Anna Persdotter, on 4 September 1926 in Cook Co., Illinois.1,5 He died on 13 October 1962 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee Co., Wisconsin, at age 76.6,7 He was buried at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, Waukesha Co., Wisconsin.6
He was born as Johan Adolf, but went by John Adolph after emigrating to the United States.4,3,2
He emigrated to the United States from Sweden in 1906, arriving on 10 November, and became a naturalized citizen on 29 September 1916.8 He and his wife Josephine are listed in the 1930 census at 1528 N. Mayfield St. in Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois. Living with them was Josephine's daughter Lillian from her first marriage, listed as Lillian Carlson.3 They were living at 1250 Mayfield Ave. in Chicago in 1940 and 19429,2, and at 5546 Congress in Chicago in 1950. In 1950 they had a lodger, Marge Nedobba.10
He was a stationary engineer, and was working for Mercy Hospital in Chicago in 1917, and for the Chicago Artificial Ice Co. in 1940 and 1942.11,3,9,2,12
