Duke Ernst (of Brunswick-Luneburg)

Duke Ernst (of Brunswick-Luneburg) was born on 26 June 1497 in Uelzen, Hannover, Prussia.¹ He was the son of Duke Heinrich 'der Mittlere' (of Brunswick-Luneburg) and Princess Margarethe (of Saxony).¹ Duke Ernst (of Brunswick-Luneburg) married Princess Sofie (of Mecklenburg Schwerin), daughter of Duke Heinrich III, 'The Peaceful' (of Mecklenburg Schwerin) and Ursule Duchess (of Mecklenburg-Schwerin), on 2 June 1528 in Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany.¹ Duke Ernst (of Brunswick-Luneburg) died on 11 January 1546 in Celle, Hannover, Prussia, at age 48.¹
