BiographyAfter Irene's death, Jonathan Alger Sr. married Lydia Hudson for his second wife. They had twins Elisha and Nathaniel Alger, William B. Alger, Jonathan Alger, Jr. and other children. Elisha was a Quaker and was probably at Dutchess County, New York and parts of New Jersey during the Revolutionary War. He was a spy for the British and he moved to Canada after the War was over settling there about 1784 and claiming land in Canada as a reward for his service to the British during the Revolutionary War. I believe his twin brother, Nathaniel, followed him to Canada. William B. Alger and Jonathan Alger, Jr. were Patriots on the American side. Lieut. William B. Alger is buried at the Episcopal Churchyard at Fishkill in Dutchess County, New York. Jonathan Alger, Jr. is buried at the Calkins Cemetery in Hinesburg, Chittenden County, Vermont along with his wife Amy Garrison whom he probably married in Dutchess County.
