He probably served as an Ensign during the French and Indian War. His signature is on a payroll dated 1756, and he is also listed as part of the Canada Expedition, serving 41 weeks, 3 days.2 He may have later been the school master in Andover, Essex Co., Massachusetts.2 He and Elizabeth had two known children, both born in Andover, Essex Co., Massachusetts: Nathaniel (b 29 April 1744, d 5 July 1812) and Jonathan (b 22 April 1748, d 4 January 1750).2

He was a tanner and shoemaker.2 He served during the Indian Wars in Maine from July to November 1722, as a sentinel in Col. Shadrack Walton's Co. in "Father Rasle's War." He was credited with serving 17 weeks, 2 days.2 He and Mary had the following known children: Mary (b 24 March 1731, d 10 August 1731), Timothy (b 30 August 1732, drowned 18 August 1962), Mary (b 19 August 1735), Susanna (b 16 July 1738).2
