Grace Lovejoy was baptized on 9 April 1620 in Sonning, Oxfordshire, England.1 Circumstantial evidence indicates that she married William Ballard about 1645 in Andover, Essex Co., Massachusetts.1
The identification of Grace Lovejoy as a sister of John Lovejoy is based on her baptism record in a neighboring parish, with a father of the same name, and the fact that they came to New England together.1 They emigrated from Caversham, Oxfordshire, England, on the ship Confidence in 1638, as servants in the family of John Stephens.1 On the passenger list their surname is listed as "Lowgie."1

Since at that time the church required that baptisms occur within a week (no "longer than the Sunday, or other Holy day next after the child be borne") unless there were exceptional circumstances, either his baptism date is wrong (perhaps it was 19 October 1615), or it was one of the exceptions.1 He married Martha Weaver in 1640 in St. Margaret's, Westminster, London, England.1
