Gilpin (40, listed as "partner," and a merchant in patent medicine), and Grace Rutty (40, listed as a "Ward").2,3 They moved to Grand Rapids, Kent Co., Michigan, sometime before 1920.4
His occupation was listed as farmer in the 1900 census, retail store merchant in 1910, and sheet metal maker for a furnace company in 1920.2,3,4
