The Grant genealogy notes that Dr. Stiles says this Mary died 7 August 1703, at age 1, but that this is probably wrong, since her father left his "only daughter" Mary £400 in his will. It also notes, however, that the Mary mentioned in the will could be from his second marriage.2

He was a merchant, and was licensed to sell wine and liquor, provided that "he sell cheaper than others that had licenses."1 In his will he left £15 for the construction of a schoolhouse on the town green.1
