He bought the portion of the farm in Wenham, Essex Co., Massachusetts, that had been left to his sister Ruth by their grandfather John White, for £75.4
In July 1725 he gave two tracts of land in Wenham, Essex Co., Massachusetts, "about seven acres in both," to his "loving cousin" (actually niece) Sarah, wife of Nehemiah Dodge, "for love and goodwill, and affection ... and also for that uncommon pains and tender regard towards my sister, her mother, in her helpless condition in the latter end of her days."5
Instead of making a will, on 20 March 1737 he gave all of his real estate, stock, farm tools, and movables to his sons Josiah and John, with Josiah to have his house and barn. He also gave them his grist mill and sawmill, and his pew in the Wenham meeting house, with his daughter Ruth also being permitted to sit there.1
