     Elizabeth Pegg was born about 1749 in Mispillion Hundred, Kent Co., Delaware.¹ She married Thomas Tharp, son of John Tharp and Elizabeth Jordan, about 1764 in Kent Co., Delaware.¹
     About 1778 many Nicholite (or "New Quaker") familes moved from Delaware to Guilford Co., North Carolina, including several of Elizabeth's relatives, who had become Nicholite followers in the 1760s. She and her husband Thomas probably joined them.¹

     She and Josiah had two known sons, born abt 1786 and 1788.²

     Jehu Tharp was born in 1767 in Mispillion Hundred, Kent Co., Delaware.² He married Rebecca Ann (?) about 1800 in Rowan Co., North Carolina.² He died in Wayne Co., Indiana.²
     On 24 September 1804 Jehu Tharp bought 155.6 acres of land in Jackson Twp., Montgomery Co., Ohio (the northwest quarter of Section 18, Township 4 north, Range 4 east), which is about eight miles northeast of what is now the city of Germantown.² On 23 October 1804 his brother James bought the adjacent quarter section to the west (although the Tharp genealogy describes this parcel as the northwest quarter of Section 18, Township 4 north, Range 4 east, the same as his).³ On 24 October 1811 he bought 160 acres in Waterloo Twp., Fayette Co., Indiana (the northeast quarter of Section 32, Township 15 north, Range 13 east).²

     James Tharp was born in 1769 in Mispillion Hundred, Kent Co., Delaware.² He married Sarah Collins.² He died in 1818 in Jackson Twp., Montgomery Co., Ohio.²
     On 23 October 1804 James Tharp bought 155.6 acres of land in Jackson Twp., Montgomery Co., Ohio, immediately west of the quarter section his brother Jehu had purchased about a month earlier (although the Tharp genealogy describes both parcels as the northwest quarter of Section 18, Township 4 north, Range 4 east).²

     Boaz Tharp was born in 1778 in Mispillion Hundred, Kent Co., Delaware.² He married Airy Whitaker, daughter of William Whitaker and Abigail Baker, on 14 June 1802 in Rowan Co., North Carolina.² He died in 1841 in Columbia Twp., Fayette Co., Indiana.² He was buried at Klun Cemetery in Fayette Co., Indiana.²
     He and his wife Airy probably moved to Montgomery Co., Ohio, shortly after their marriage in 1802, at the same time as his brother Thomas.³ He was witness to a land sale in Montgomery Co. (now Preble Co.), Ohio, in 1805², and on 24 October 1806 he bought 146.9 acres of land in what is now Casper Twp., Preble Co., Ohio (the northeast quarter of Section 31, Township 7 north, Range 2 east), about three miles northeast of Camden.³
     He and Airy moved to Indiana sometime in late 1811², and on 11 January 1812 the land he had purchased in 1806 in Preble Co., Ohio, reverted to the government.²
     On 11 September 1811 he bought 75 acres of land in Connersville, Franklin Co. (now Fayette Co.), Indiana (the southeastern part of the northwest quarter of Section 13, Township 14 north, Range 12 east), from Samuel and Elizabeth McCormack for $500. Sixteen years later, on 17 September 1827, he sold this property to his son Andrew.² On 23 October 1811 he bought 160 acres in Washington Twp., Wayne Co. (now Fayette Co.), Indiana (the southeast quarter of Section 34, Township 16 north, Range 12 east).² On 29 March 1828 he bought 160 acres (the southeast quarter of Section 12, Township 14 north, Range 12 east) from Archibald and Betsy Johnston for $500.² On 2 October 1830 he bought 160 acres in Columbia Twp., Fayette Co., Indiana (the southeast quarter of Section 15, Township 13 north, Range 12 east), from Robert and Mary Ann Hlelm for $1000.² On 28 September 1835 he bought 40 acres of federal land in Columbia Twp. (the southwest quarter of the northwest quarter of Section 30, Township 13 north, Range 12 east), about four miles west of Alpine.²
     On 5 March 1839 he sold the western half of the 160 acres he had purchased in Columbia Twp. in 1830 to his son Andrew for $1000, then bought it back the same day.²
     He died intestate, and his estate was divided among his children William, Andrew, Matilda, and a daughter whose name is unknown.²

     Andrew Tharp was born on 25 March 1781 in Rowan Co., North Carolina.² He married Rebecca Hawkins, daughter of Samuel Hawkins, on 15 September 1806 in Eaton, Preble Co., Ohio.² He died on 5 June 1830 in Rush Co., Indiana, at age 49.²
     On 2 December 1803 he bought 340.3 acres of land in Montgomery Co., Ohio (the west half of Section 2, Township 3 north, Range 4 east), from the federal government.² On 23 December 1805 he entered into an agreement with David Hendricks in which, in return for a bond of $3000, by 10 January 1807 Hendricks was to deed to him 160 acres of land (the southwest quarter of Section 10, Township 6 north, Range 2 east) along Seven Mile Creek in and near the present city of Camden in Preble Co., Ohio. He "took steps" to sell this land in the fall of 1809.²
     He and his wife Rebecca moved to Clark Co. (now Fayette Co.), Indiana, probably in the winter of 1809-10, settling along the West Fork of the Whitewater River.² On 4 April 1812 he bought 160 acres of land in Franklin Co. (now Fayette Co.), Indiana (the northeast quarter of Section 25, Township 14 north, Range 12 east). This is likely the land where the family had been living, in essence as squatters, for the previous two years.²
     Sometime before June 1814 they moved a few miles north to Wayne Co. (now Fayette Co.), Indiana.² He officially purchased this property, consisting of 160 acres (the southeast quarter of Section 6, Township 14 north, Range 13 east) on 2 December 1816.²

     William Tharp was born in 1782 in Rowan Co., North Carolina.²

     Josiah Smith was born about 1763.¹ He married Lettitia Tharp, daughter of Thomas Tharp and Elizabeth Pegg, on 14 March 1785 in Guilford Co., North Carolina.¹ He died on 28 August 1807 in Montgomery Co., Ohio.¹

     Esther Tharp was born about 1802 in Guilford Co., North Carolina.¹ She married Richard Harwood on 18 August 1821 in Richmond, Wayne Co., Indiana.¹ She died about 1823 in Wayne Co., Indiana.¹

     James Tharp was born on 17 November 1803 (based on his age at death of 84 years, 3 months, 26 days) in Montgomery Co., Ohio.^2,1 He married Rebecca Ann Howard about 1827 in Wayne Co., Indiana.¹ He died on 14 March 1888 in Pipe Creek Twp., Madison Co., Indiana, at age 84.^2,1 He was buried at Howard Cemetery in Madison Co., Indiana.³

     Rebecca Ann Howard was born on 27 October 1810 (based on her age at death of 36 years, 3 months, 22 days) in North Carolina.^2,1 She married James Tharp, son of Jehu Tharp and Rebecca Ann (?), about 1827 in Wayne Co., Indiana.¹ She died on 18 February 1847 (the Tharp genealogy says about 1842) in Pipe Creek Twp., Madison Co., Indiana, at age 36.^2,1 She was buried at Howard Cemetery in Madison Co., Indiana.³

     Mary Tharp was born about 1806 in Montgomery Co., Ohio.¹ She married Jesse Harris on 23 June 1825 in Richmond, Wayne Co., Indiana.¹
