     Norman Lewis Swikert was born on 21 July 1876 in Nebraska.^2,3 He married Hattie Amelia Green on 1 July 1908 or 2 July 1908 in Union Co., Oregon.^2,4,5 He died on 12 August 1939 near Elgin, Union Co., Oregon, at age 63.^6,2 He was buried on 15 August 1939 at Elgin Cemetery in Elgin, Union Co., Oregon.^7,2
     Before his marriage he bought two tracts of land in Union Co., Oregon, from the federal government. On 28 January 1904 he was issued a patent for 159.47 acres⁸, and on 29 December 1904 he was issued a patent for 32.71 acres.⁹ On 30 March 1911 his wife Hattie was issued a patent for 40 acres she had purchased in Union Co.¹⁰, and on 22 April 1927 he was issued a patent for another 160 acres he had purchased in Union Co.¹¹
     He and Hattie are listed in Union Co. in the censuses from 1910 to 1930, in North Elgin in 1910, in Palmer in 1920, and in Elgin in 1930.^12,13,14

     Hattie Amelia Green was born in 1866 (the 1900 census says July 1869) in Illinois.^2,3 She married first George Robinson about 1890.^1,4,3,5,6 She married second Norman Lewis Swikert, son of Jacob C. Swikert and Susanah Adeline Havens, on 1 July 1908 or 2 July 1908 in Union Co., Oregon.^1,4,7 She died on 7 December 1945 in Union Co., Oregon.^8,2 She was buried at Elgin Cemetery in Elgin, Union Co., Oregon.²
     She and her first husband George were living in La Grande, Union Co., Oregon, in 1900.³
     On 30 March 1911, after her marriage to her second husband Norman Swikert, she was issued a land patent from the federal government for 40 acres she had purchased in Union Co.⁹, and on 22 April 1927 Norman was issued a patent for another 160 acres he had purchased in Union Co.¹⁰

     Minnie Myrtle Swikert was born on 21 July 1882 in Anatone, Garfield Co. (now Asotin Co.), Washington.^2,3 She married first George Elzy Gilmore on 17 April 1901 in Union Co., Oregon.^4,2 She married second Ardie Lyman, son of Otis John Lyman and Rosella Sherwood, in Union Co., Oregon.² She died on 20 February 1955 (the on-line Oregon Death Index says "26 February 195??") In Union Co., Oregon, at age 72.^2,5 She was buried at Island City Cemetery in Union Co., Oregon.^6,2
     She and her first husband George were living in Ferndale, Umatilla Co., Oregon, in 1910.⁷ By 1920 they had moved to Smith Mountain, Wallowa Co., Oregon.⁸ In 1930, after her first husband's death, Minnie was living and working as a cook in the household of R. W. Jack in Linden, Latah Co., Idaho. Her sons George and Everett were also living there, with George working as a truck driver and Everett as a laborer.⁹

     George Elzy Gilmore was born about 1869 in Missouri.^2,3 He married Minnie Myrtle Swikert, daughter of Jacob C. Swikert and Susanah Adeline Havens, on 17 April 1901 in Union Co., Oregon.^2,1 He died on 26 April 1925 in Umatilla Co., Oregon.⁴ He was buried at Elgin Cemetery in Union Co., Oregon.⁵
     He and his wife Minnie were living in Ferndale, Umatilla Co., Oregon, in 1910.³ By 1920 they had moved to Smith Mountain, Wallowa Co., Oregon.⁶
