     Orville Ranson Barton was born on 18 February 1922 in Wallowa, Wallowa Co., Oregon.^2,1 He died on 15 January 2005 at Ivy Court in Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai Co., Idaho, at age 82.² He was buried at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai Co., Idaho.³

     Everett Elzy Gilmore was born about 1914 in Oregon.² He died in 1986.¹

     Ardie Lyman was born on 31 October 1878 in Pennsylvania.¹ He married Minnie Myrtle Swikert, daughter of Jacob C. Swikert and Susanah Adeline Havens, in Union Co., Oregon.² He died on 7 February 1959 in Union Co., Oregon, at age 80.^3,4 He was buried at Island City Cemetery in Union Co., Oregon.¹
     He went by the nickname "R. D."⁴

     Oscar Melvin Swikert was born on 25 August 1879 in Asotin, Columbia Co., Washington.^2,3 He married first Grace Edna Porter, daughter of W. M. Porter, on 7 September 1903 (the Jacob Swikert genealogy by Elizabeth Watkins says 10 March 1904) in Union Co., Oregon.^4,2 They apparently divorced, as they were both later remarried.^5,6 He married second Mary Curby on 8 February 1910 in Union Co., Oregon.^5,2 He died on 23 March 1944 in Washougal, Skamania Co., Washington, at age 64.⁷ He was buried in Elgin, Union Co., Oregon.²
     On 12 August 1902, before his marriage, he was issued a land patent from the federal government for 80 acres he had purchased in Union Co., Oregon.⁸ On 22 June 1918, after his second marriage, he was issued a patent for 320 acres he had purchased in neighboring Wallowa Co., Oregon.⁹
     He and his second wife Mary are listed in the 1910 census in Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon. Listed with them, as sons, are Howerton, age 12, and Leonard, age 9, both born in Oklahoma. Oscar's brother Jacob was living in the same house, as a roomer with a different family.¹⁰ In 1920 they are listed in North Bend, Coos Co., Oregon, with a son Raymond Swikert (age 16), born in Oklahoma.¹¹ They are again listed in Coos Co. in 1930, in Prosper, but with Raymond listed as Oscar's stepson, age 26, born in Oklahoma.¹² He was working as a proprietor of a candy factory in 1910, a laborer in a city park in 1920, and a laborer in the logging industry in 1930.^10,11,12
     From the information in the 1910-1930 censuses, it's clear that Oscar's second wife Mary had previously been married to a man named Howerton, by whom she had two sons. One was named Raymond, born about 1904, and the other was probably Leonard. The 1910 census confuses things a bit, though. Since Oscar and Mary were married in 1910, the sons listed in 1910 are probably Mary's from her previous marriage, with the surname Howerton. The family was then living in a house at 414 Fifth St. in Portland, Oregon, with four other families. It seems possible that someone other than Oscar or Mary provided the information, and that the sons Howerton and Leonard listed in 1910 are actually Leonard and Raymond Howerton, with incorrect ages.^10,11,12

     Mary Curby was born in 1880.³ She married first Tage Howerton in 1898 in Roger Mills Co., Oklahoma.^4,5,2,1 She married second Oscar Melvin Swikert, son of Jacob C. Swikert and Susanah Adeline Havens, on 8 February 1910 in Union Co., Oregon.^2,6
     She went by the nickname "Mollie."³ She and her first husband Tage had two children, Leonard Tage (b 10 June 1900, d 15 August 1919) and Raymond (b abt 1904).^4,5,7,8 She and her second husband Oscar are listed in the 1910 census in Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon.      The identification of Mary's surname as Curby, and of her first husband's given name as Tage, is somewhat circumstantial. There's a World War I draft registration card dated 12 September 1918 for Leonard Tage Howerton of 2615 Delaware St. in North Bend, Oregon, that lists his closest relative as Mary Swikert. Oscar and Mary (Howerton) Swikert were living at that address in 1920, implying that Leonard was the son of Oscar Swikert's wife Mary (Howerton) Swikert. Leonard and his brother Raymond were both born in Oklahoma, and there's a marriage record for Tage Howerton and Mary Curby in Roger Mills Co., Oklahoma, in 1898. Since Leonard's middle name was Tage, it's lilkely that these were his parents.^7,1,9,4

     Ethel May Swikert was born on 7 October 1907 in Lostine, Wallowa Co., Oregon.³ She married Paul T. Brace on 27 May 1927 in La Grande, Union Co., Oregon.^4,1,3 She died on 1 March 1989 in Ochoco Nursing Home, Prineville, Crook Co., Oregon, at age 81.³ She was buried on 7 March 1989 at Enterprise Cemetery in Wallowa Co., Oregon.³

     Paul T. Brace was born about 1902 in Wisconsin.¹ He married Ethel May Swikert, daughter of Oscar Melvin Swikert and Grace Edna Porter, on 27 May 1927 in La Grande, Union Co., Oregon.^3,1,2

     Betty Lou Brace was born on 3 April 1928 in LaGrande, Union Co., Oregon.^3,2 She married Earl W. Kearly on 17 August 1956.^3,1 She died on 12 August 1990 at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Tucson, Pima Co., Arizona, at age 62.³ She was buried on 17 August 1990 at Enterprise Cemetery in Wallowa Co., Oregon.³

     Earl W. Kearly married Betty Lou Brace, daughter of Paul T. Brace and Ethel May Swikert, on 17 August 1956.^1,2

     Jacob Christian Swikert was born on 18 August 1887 in Asotin, Asotin Co., Washington.^2,3,4 He married first Bertha Lydia Blake on 15 June 1913 (the LDS Family Data Collection says 15 June 1915) in Orofino, Clearwater Co., Idaho.^5,3,2 He married second Hattie Irene Robinson, daughter of George Robinson and Hattie Amelia Green, on 24 September 1923 in Union Co., Oregon.^6,2 He married third Maude Marie Bellamy on 19 May 1930 in Union Co., Oregon.^7,2 He died on 24 March 1952 in LaGrande, Union Co., Oregon, at age 64.^8,3,2 He was buried at Elgin Cemetery in Elgin, Union Co., Oregon.⁹
     He was living as a roomer with the family of Charles Lewis at 414 Fifth St. in Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon, in 1910. Living in the same house was the family of Jacob's brother Oscar.¹⁰ He was working as a candy store deliveryman, no doubt for his brother Oscar.¹⁰ In 1920 he was living as a boarder in Palmer, Union Co., Oregon.¹¹ On 8 April 1930 he was living with his sister Maryetta's family in Moscow, Latah Co., Idaho, and working as a hotel janitor.¹²
     It should be noted that the age listed for him in the online transcriptions of his second and third marriages is inconsistent with a birth year of 1887. In the record of his marriage to Hattie Robinson in 1923, his age is given as 21, making his birth year about 1902. For his marriage to Maude Bellamy in 1930, his age is also given as 21, making his birth year about 1909. Assuming the birth year of 1887 is correct, it seems likely that either he lied about his age, or the information in the original marriage records or the transcriptions is incorrect.^6,7

     Bertha Lydia Blake married first Jacob Christian Swikert, son of Jacob C. Swikert and Susanah Adeline Havens, on 15 June 1913 in Orofino, Clearwater Co., Idaho.^1,2,4 She married second Ronald Cory.⁵

     Lewis Melvin Swikert was born on 19 September 1915 in Oregon.^3,2 He married Hazel Grace Bassett.^3,1 He died on 15 September 1999 at age 83.³ He was buried at IOOF Cemetery in Linn Co., Oregon.³

     Hazel Grace Bassett was born on 20 June 1920.¹ She married Lewis Melvin Swikert, son of Jacob Christian Swikert and Bertha Lydia Blake.^3,2 She died on 11 June 1997 at age 76.¹ She was buried at IOOF Cemetery in Linn Co., Oregon.¹

     Maude Marie Bellamy was born about 1912.¹ She married Jacob Christian Swikert, son of Jacob C. Swikert and Susanah Adeline Havens, on 19 May 1930 in Union Co., Oregon.^1,2

     Ernest S. Derhammer was born in June 1893 in Michigan.^3,4,1,2,5 He was married by F. W. McQueen, minister, to Teresa M. Haas on 28 October 1914 in Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo Co., Michigan.¹
     He was a plumber.¹

     Ruth M. Derhammer was born in March 1899 in Michigan.^3,2 She was married by Gordon C. Speer, Minister, to Eber J. Bennett on 22 October 1920 in Otsego, Allegan Co., Michigan.¹

     Ruby Derhammer was born about 1908 in Michigan.^2,1

     Lida S. Derhammer was born on 3 February 1904 in Otsego, Allegan Co., Michigan.^3,4,2 She was married by W. H. Rogers, Minister, to Leo Hutchinson on 4 May 1925 in Otsego, Allegan Co., Michigan.^5,2 She died on 17 October 1993 in Alamo, Kalamazoo Co., Michigan, at age 89.⁶

     Leo Hutchinson was born about 1906 in Plainwell, Allegan Co., Michigan.³ He was married by W. H. Rogers, Minister, to Lida S. Derhammer, daughter of Henry Christian Derhammer and Cora Adell Sperry, on 4 May 1925 in Otsego, Allegan Co., Michigan.^3,2

     Lora A. Sperry was born on 5 January 1860 in Otsego, Allegan Co., Michigan.^1,4 She married Frank H. Sherwood on 10 October 1875 in Otsego, Allegan Co., Michigan.^1,5 She died on 1 June 1931 in Otsego Twp., Allegan Co., Michigan, at age 71 from heart disease.^3,1 She was buried on 4 June 1931 at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego, Allegan Co., Michigan.¹

     William Taylor was born about 1832 in Canada (east).¹ He married Amorette Wason, daughter of Robert Wason and Elizabeth Rogers, about 1856.^2,1,3
     He was a farmer in Otsego, Allegan Co., Michigan.¹ He and his wife Amorette are listed there in the census of 1860, along with their children William and Sarah. Also listed in the same household are Jessie Sacket (?), age 30, farmer, born in Ohio, and James B. Jackson, age 21, farmer, born in New York.¹
     According to family tradition, he disappeared after robbing a bank and dumping the safe in a mill race.⁴
