Princess Sofie (of Mecklenburg) was born on 4 September 1557 in Wismar, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany.1 She was the daughter of Ulrich III Regent (of Mecklenburg-Schwerin) and Princess Elisabeth (of Denmark & Norway).1 Princess Sofie (of Mecklenburg) married King Frederick II (of Denmark), son of King Christian III (of Denmark) and Princess Dorothea (of Saxony-Lauenburg), on 20 July 1572 in Copenhagen Castle, Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark.1 Princess Sofie (of Mecklenburg) died on 4 October 1631 in Nykøbing Slot, Nykøbing, Maribo, Denmark, at age 74.1 She was buried in Roskilde Domkirke, Roskilde, Roskilde Amt, Denmark.1
