LAKELAND - Mark Allen Brechue, 36, passed away July 6, 2018.
Mark was born in Birmingham, AL on June 11, 1982. He was a member of the National Thespian Society, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus, where he assisted with service projects. He was known as DJ French Press in Lakeland and New York City where he used his entertaining gifts. Mark also occasionally volunteered at the Talbot House and enjoyed skateboarding, music and flying drones with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Brechue. Mark is survived by his mother, Valerie Brechue; his sister, Renèe Michelle (David) Thornton; and a number of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be Fri. July 13th from 6-8 pm at Gentry Morrison Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Rd. Lakeland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Sat. July 14th at 10:30 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Lakeland. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Burial Park. Following the interment, a reception will be held at Cob & Pen Restaurant, 1221 S. Florida Ave. Lakeland, FL 33803. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism or the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

Hagues and Jennie C. Russell, on 29 November 1922 at Utica, Oneida, New York, USA.1,2 William Ralph Floyd Jr. died on 1 September 1959 at Rome City Hospital, Rome, Oneida, New york, at age 60; Lt. Col. W. Ralph Floyd Jr. USAR (Ret.), 60, of 1449 Kemble St., prominent in Utica's military, business, civic and athletic life for many years, and a veteran of Worod Wars I and II, died in Rome aout 6:55 last night. He worked yesterday at City Hall, where he was connected with the city engineer's office since 1934, and was driving his wife to Rome when stricken on Upper W. Dominick St. Employees of the Nunn Ambulance Service administered oxygen but Mr. Floyd was dead on arrival at Rome City Hospital. Thomas A. Cox, coroner, said death was due to a heart attack.
Colonel Floyd was born in Clayton, Dec. 11, 1898, son of William R. and ida Belle Pennock Floyd. As a youth, his family moved to Utica where on Nov. 29, 1922, he was married to Ethel Hagues.
He first attained prominence as an athlete while attending Utica Free Academy, serving as quartergack of the football team in 1916 and 1917, without missing a minute of play. He made the baseball team as a catcher and was a sprinter with the track team. Known as "Cap," he attended Hamilton College where he also won the quarterback position. When he became a member of the National Guard, he took up basketball and continued to play that sport for 19 years. He also was a Twilight Baseball League player andconcluded his sports career by serving as coach of the National Guard football team and the Highlanders.
After leaving Hamiliton, he served with the Army in World War I. He then served with the New York Guard and the New York National Guard for 23 years. He advanced to become captain of Company K and of Company M. He also held the rank of major. During World War II, Floyd served as commanding officer of the 800th Signal Training regiment, camp Crowder, Mo., and as acting commandant, Central Signal Corps School, assisting materially in the movement of troops and equipment to Fort Monmouth, NJ. He served in Germany as a member of the Army of Occupation with the 37th Signal Heavy Construction Battalion, a part of the 3112th Signal Service Group. Upon release from active duy in 1947, he accepted a commission in the infantry as lieutenant colonel and organized the Second Battalion, 389th Infantry Regiment Active Reserve. This unit is part of the 98th Infantry Division. He commanded the battalion which has units in Utica, Rome, Mohawk and Little Falls, for many years. He took leave of absence form the city engineer's office, prior to active duty in WW II to serve as plant protection officer of the Savage Arms Inc. He organized and supervised the guards, fire units, inspectors, wardens and other civil defense groups for internal security. He was commissioned a captain in the regular Army in 1942.
Before entering the city's service, he was long engaged in practice as a civil engineer. He was for many years connected with the local office of Clifford Lewis Jr. In recent years, he also conducted his own surveying business. During 1956 he was civil defense director for Utica and served as assistant director for several years. Colonel Floyd was born in Clayton, Dec. 11, 1898, son of William R. and ida Belle Pennock Floyd. As a youth, his family moved to Utica where on Nov. 29, 1922, he was married to Ethel Hagues.
He first attained prominence as an athlete while attending Utica Free Academy, serving as quartergack of the football team in 1916 and 1917, without missing a minute of play. He made the baseball team as a catcher and was a sprinter with the track team. Known as "Cap," he attended Hamilton College where he also won the quarterback position. When he became a member of the National Guard, he took up basketball and continued to play that sport for 19 years. He also was a Twilight Baseball League player andconcluded his sports career by serving as coach of the National Guard football team and the Highlanders.
After leaving Hamiliton, he served with the Army in World War I. He then served with the New York Guard and the New York National Guard for 23 years. He advanced to become captain of Company K and of Company M. He also held the rank of major. During World War II, Floyd served as commanding officer of the 800th Signal Training regiment, camp Crowder, Mo., and as acting commandant, Central Signal Corps School, assisting materially in the movement of troops and equipment to Fort Monmouth, NJ. He served in Germany as a member of the Army of Occupation with the 37th Signal Heavy Construction Battalion, a part of the 3112th Signal Service Group. Upon release from active duy in 1947, he accepted a commission in the infantry as lieutenant colonel and organized the Second Battalion, 389th Infantry Regiment Active Reserve. This unit is part of the 98th Infantry Division. He commanded the battalion which has units in Utica, Rome, Mohawk and Little Falls, for many years. He took leave of absence form the city engineer's office, prior to active duty in WW II to serve as plant protection officer of the Savage Arms Inc. He organized and supervised the guards, fire units, inspectors, wardens and other civil defense groups for internal security. He was commissioned a captain in the regular Army in 1942.
Before entering the city's service, he was long engaged in practice as a civil engineer. He was for many years connected with the local office of Clifford Lewis Jr. In recent years, he also conducted his own surveying business. During 1956 he was civil defense director for Utica and served as assistant director for several years.
