He moved to Aurora, Hamilton Co., Nebraska, with his parents in 1885.4 At the time of his marriage, he was described as being of Phillips, Hamilton Co., Nebraska.2
In 1910 he and his wife Bina were living on a rented farm in Monroe Prec., Hamilton Co., Nebraska.7,8 In March 1915 they moved to a farm in the eastern part of Scotts Bluff Co., Nebraska.4,1 In the spring of 1919 they sold the farm and moved to a house in the city of Scottsbluff, at 2008 Avenue A4, where they are listed in the 1920 census.9 He had given up farming and was working as a house carpenter9,4, and soon afterwards as a police officer.5
On the evening of 25 April 1923, he and Guy Carlson, a Scotts Bluff Co. deputy sheriff, went to the home of a Mrs. Johnson in Mitchell, Scotts Bluff Co., Nebraska, looking for a man wanted in connection with a bootlegging operation.10 At about 9:45 they confronted the suspect near a garage. He fired twice, one shot hitting Albert Peterson in the stomach, and the other hitting Carlson in both forearms. Albert was taken into the house, and died around 10:20. He was, and still is, the only Scottsbluff police officer to be killed in the line of duty.11,12,13,14
He and Bina had no children.8

He immigrated to the United States, via England and Canada, in 1883 with his parents and sisters Johanna, Emma, Louisa, and Hulda. They traveled first from Gothenburg to Hull, England, sailing 7 September on the ship Orlando. They then left Liverpool on 13 September on the SS Dominion, and arrived in Quebec city on 23 September. In the Orlando's passenger list their final destination was listed as Galva, Illinois.10,11,12 He became a naturalized citizen in 1917.2
In his birth record, and in two Swedish household surveys, he's listed as Johannes, son of Anders Jönsson and Anna Nilsdotter. However, he used the name John Johnson after coming to the U.S., and in his obituary his parents are listed as Andrew and Anna Nielson Johnson.3,4,5,1,6
After their marriage he and his wife Nellie lived for a time in Knox Co., Illinois, where their son Armour was born in 1906.13,14 They then moved to North Dakota15, where they were living in Casselton Twp., Cass Co., in 191015, and in Everest Twp., Cass Co., in 1920.2 In 1910 Alfred Alfs and Anton Anderson were living with them as hired hands.15 By 1930 they had moved back to Illinois, where they lived in Galva Twp., Henry Co., until about 194716,17, when they moved to nearby Bishop Hill, Henry Co.8 They are listed there in the 1950 census, along with their son Armour, who was then separated.18

On 4 June 1944 he attended a farewell party in Galva, Henry Co., Illinois, for Darrell Lindbom, who had joined the Navy. In the afternoon he and three others decided to go to Lake Storey. Around 8:00 PM they waded into the water, headed for a raft. But Marshall was unable to swim (his brother Armour later testified at an inquest that he "had a dread of water"), and was last seen "standing in water up to his armpits." His body was recovered around 12:30 AM.1

Although he was the son of Bengt Harald Andersson, he adopted as his surname the Swedish nature name Ahlberg, from "ahl" (an alternate spelling of al, meaning alder), plus "berg," meaning mountain or hill.6 He sometimes went by the nickname Gust.7,4
He immigrated from Sweden to the United States in 19047, and became a naturalized citizen by 1910.7
He and his wife Henrika were living on Quincy Rd. in Riverside, Cook Co., Illinois, in 1910.7,8 They have not been found in the 1920 and 1930 censuses, but moved to 115 Groveland Ave. in Riverside by 1935, where they were enumerated in 1940 and 1950.9,10
He was working as a gardner in 1910.7 When he registered for the World War I draft on 7 September 1918, he was working as a chauffeur for Lt. Col. Ralph Crews in Washington, D.C. (Although he was then in Washington, he listed his permanent address as Riverside, Illinois, and named his wife Rika there as his contact person.)11 He worked for the street department in Riverside in the early 1940s12,3, and was listed as a contractor in the 1950 census.10

He was also known, at least after his immigration to the United States, as Edward Zetterholm.9,8
He emigrated from Sweden to the United States in 1897 at age 16, leaving Malmö, Malmöhus Co. (now Skåne Co.), on 8 April, with his final destination listed as Chicago, Illinois.10 He traveled first to Liverpool, England, and sailed from there on the SS Laurentian on 15 April, bound for Halifax, Nova Scotia, and arrived there on 25 April.11,12 He entered the United States two days later at Detroit, Wayne Co., Michigan.13 He became a naturalized citizen on 31 October 1904 in Cook Co., Illinois.13
He is probably the "Edward Zithalm" listed in Chicago in the 1900 census, living as a boarder with the family of Nels Johnson.14
He apparently returned to Sweden at some point, perhaps to visit family, and returned in 1908 with his sisters Elin and Johanna, plus his future wife Josefina Hanson (who was on a separate sailing contract), all of whom had also previously been in the United States. They left Helsingborg on the ferry on 15 August, then Liverpool, England, on the SS Carmania on 19 August, and arrived in New York on 27 August.15,16
In April 1910 he was living with the family of bank president David Forgan in Evanston, Cook Co., Illinois.
He and his wife Josephine were living at 1028 Greenleaf St. in Evanston, Cook Co., Illinois, in 1920.9
He has not been found in the 1930 census, but in 1940 he was living in Longboat Key, Manatee Co., Florida, with Louis A. Ferguson, chairman of an investment company.
He was working as a porter in 190014, but was a private chauffeur most of his life, working for David Forgan (probably) in 1910, for H. Burnham in 1918, and for Lewis Ferguson in 1940.17,4,9,7

Harry's grandson Edwin Priest says he was "a real card," and describes an incident when they were out for dinner together at an Italian restaurant.
He was a great singer and knew lots of lines of Italian opera. So one night, he spouted off some lines in Italian to the Italian waitress and she did a double take, since he was white-haired, pale white, with pale blue Swedish eyes. She asked him if he was Italian. He replied with a grin and said "No, Swedish!" He was happy that his Italian pronunciation was good enough to fool her.11

He immigrated to the United States from Sweden about 1885 (the 1900 and 1910 censuses say 1883 and 1886, respectively).3,4 He may be the Lars Johan Larsson, age 17, who sailed from Liverpool, England, to New York on the RMS City of Berlin, arriving on 9 October 1886, with his final destination listed as Chicago, Illinois.9 He became a naturalized citizen before 1900.3 In the United States he normally went by the name John.3,4
After their marriage, he and his wife Ida lived for a time in Illinois where their first three children were born.3 They moved to Hammond, Lake Co., Indiana, sometime between June 1897 and June 19003, when they were living there in a house they owned on Reese Ave. Ida's sister Anna was then living with them.3
He moved back to Illinois after his wife died, and in 1910 was living as a widower, with his children, in a rented house at 6144 Wabash Ave. in Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois. His wife's sister Anna was again (still?) living with them, as a housekeeper. Two other families were also living at the same address.4
He has not been found in the 1920 census, but he was living on his own back in Hammond in 193010, and with his son Helmer and his wife Minnie in Hammond in 1940.11
He was a carpenter and foreman at Inland Steel in East Chicago, Lake Co., Indiana, for 35 years.7
