He was deputy to the General Assembly from Westerly, Rhode Island, in 1690, 1691, 1698-1700, 1703, 1705, 1706, 1708, 1710, and 1712.1 He also served as justice of the peace in Westerly.1 At a town meeting in Westerly on 7 April 1709 he received a land grant of 100 acres.1 At the same meeting he was empowered to make an agreement with the Indian chief Ninecraft for "a perpetual high road to the salt water from Queen's Rhoade."1

He was made a freeman in Westerly, Rhode Island, in 1700.2 On 25 June 1707 he was chosen assessor in Westerly.2 His will was dated 3 August 1747 and probated 29 December 1747. The executor was his son William, who was asked to "care for my ancient mother if she outlives me."2

He served as deputy from Stonington, New London Co., Connecticut, in 1721 and 1722.2 On 14 October 1731 he was a lieutenant in the Second Stonington Company.2 His will was dated 1 July 1760 and proved 29 July 1760, with his son John as executor.2
