     Henry Ingalls was born about 1629/30 in England.1,2 He was married first, by Mr. Simeon Bradstreet, to Mary Osgood on 6 July 1653 in Andover, Essex Co., Massachusetts.2 He was married second, by Rev. Francis Dane, to Sarah Farnham, daughter of Ralph Farnham and Alice (?), on 1 August 1689 in Andover, Essex Co., Massachusetts.1,2 He died on 8 February 1718/19 in Andover, Essex Co., Massachusetts.2
     He was a tanner in Andover, Essex Co., Massachusetts.2 He served as constable in 1669 and 1675, highway surveyor in 1672, and juror in 1690/91.2
     His will was dated 5 July 1714 and proved 16 February 1718/19. He divided over 100 acres of land among his twelve children. He left his homestead to his son James, who was to take care of his widow Sarah.2

Francis Dane, to Elizabeth Ballard, daughter of Joseph Ballard and Elizabeth Phelps, on 13 September 1689 in Andover, Essex Co., Massachusetts.3 He married second Hannah Estey, daughter of Isaac Estey and Mary Towne, on 21 July 1707 in Topsfield, Essex Co., Massachusetts.2,3 He died on 23 November 1724 (the Abbott genealogy by Lemuel Abbott mistakenly says 24 January 1724) in Andover, Essex Co., Massachusetts, at age 65.2,3
     He was a farmer and shoemaker in Andover, Essex Co., Massachusetts.3
     In the settlement of his father's estate on 20 January 1689/90, he accepted 16 acres of upland, on which he had already built a house, some meadow land, some livestock, and some household effects.1
     On 25 October 1723 he transferred property in Andover to his son Uriah as a gesture of "parental love, good will, and affection," and for "other good causes and considerations." This included his house, new barn, half the orchard, and various other parcels of land.3 On 9 November 1723 (or possibly 29 November 1723) he sold land in Andover, the acreage unknown, to his son Obed for £60.4
     His will was dated 1 October 1724, and probated 7 December 1724, with his son Uriah as executor. In it he provided for his widow Hannah, and left: £5 to his sons George and Moses, £10 to his son Peter, and £15 to his son Jacob, in addition to what they had already received; four parcels of land to his son Obed; £25 to his daughters Sarah and Hannah, plus the use of the house as long as they remained unmarried; and 20s to his granddaughter Elizabeth Foster. His son Uriah received the rest of the estate.3

     John Abbott was born on 26 August 1662 in Andover, Essex Co., Massachusetts.1 He married Jemima (?).2 He died on 24 March 1718 in Watertown, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, at age 55.2
     He was a husbandman, carpenter, and millwright, and became quite prosperous.2
     In the settlement of his father's estate on 20 January 1689/90, he accepted the homestead, orchard, and house, some meadow land, some additional land, some livestock, and some household effects. He and his brother Nehemiah agreed to pay 20s to each of their sisters Sarah, Mary, Hannah, and Lydia. They also agreed to pay all debts owed by the estate, and were to receive any amounts due to the estate.1
     He lived in Andover, Essex Co., Massachusetts, until 1696.2 On 20 June 1696 he bought about 80 acres of upland and meadow in Sudbury, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, including a house, barn, and orchard, for £140 from Benjamin Chadwick.2 He and his wife Jemima lived there from 1696 to 1712.2 On 4 February 1702 he bought about 8 acres from Obadiah Wood of Sudbury for £15. On the same date he sold about 5 acres of land in Sudbury, that he had previously bought from Benjamin Chamerlin, to Obadiah Wood for £10.2 He served as selectman in 1702 and 1703, tithingman in 1702, and constable in 1706 and 1707.2
     On 16 January 1705/6 he bought about 140 acres of upland and meadow in the southern part of Concord, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, from Daniel Dean, Sr., for £75.2 On 19 March 1707 he sold half of his rights to the "Common Lands and Meadows" in Sudbury to James Reid for "a valuable sum of money."2
     He and his wife Jemima lived in Watertown, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, after 1712.2 On 9 October 1710 he bought from Jonathan Belcher of Boston, and others, a corn mill and fulling mill on the Charles River in Watertown two houses near the mills, and about 12 acres of upland, for £305 8s.2 On 8 May 1713 he sold about 28 acres of swamp and upland on the Charles River in Watertown to Benjamin Gearfield for £28.2 In Watertown he was a member of a committee for building a bridge over the Charles River in January 1713/14, and a tithingman in 1717 and 1718.2
     On 30 June 1714 he sold about 80 acres of land in Sudbury, plus buildings, to Thomas Barney, Jr., for £220. This was probably his homestead, and bordered his brother Samuel's land on the north.2
     In April 1718 his widow Jemima was appointed administrator of his estate. It included 156 acres of land in Watertown, Sudbury, and elsewhere, two houses, and a gristmill, and was valued at £997 1s.2

     Samuel Abbott was born on 30 May 1678 in Andover, Essex Co., Massachusetts.1 He married Joyce Rice, daughter of Edmund Rice and Joyce Russell, on 26 June 1705 in East Sudbury, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts.2 He died on 17 May 1739 in Sudbury, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, at age 60.2 His funeral expenses were £1 16s 4d. Of this, the casket was 5s 4d, and digging the grave cost 2s.2
     In the settlement of his father's estate on 20 January 1689/90, he was to receive £70 when he came of age.1
     He lived in East Sudbury, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, after 1696, probably moving there with his older brother John.2 In 1711 he joined the Sudbury church, where his wife Joyce was a member, and her father a deacon.2 He served as highway surveyor from 1707-1722; constable for the east side of Sudbury River in 1717 and 1718; town treasurer in 1720; fence viewer in 1724; selectman in 1727, 1729-1733, 1735, and 1736; and assessor in 1730.2
     On 24 November 1719 he and his wife Joyce, and others, "for divers good causes and considerations" sold their rights to the estate of Edmund Rice (probably Joyce's father) in Sudbury to Jason Rice.2 On 28 May 1720 he bought 39 acres of upland and swamp, plus 4 acres of meadow with a house and barn in Sudbury, from Samuel Moore for £220.2 On 31 March 1722 he bought about 7 acres on the east side of Sudbury River from Isaac Gleason for £40.2 On 4 August 1736 he bought about 11 acres in the east side of Sudbury River from Peter Grout for £57 10s.2
     On 29 November 1737, "for many good causes and considerations ... but especially for and in consideration of Love and good will and affection ...," he deeded half of his upland, orchard, pasture, and meadow in Sudbury, the east half of his house, and half of his upland and meadow in Weston to his son Samuel.2
     His will was dated 26 February 1730. His son Samuel was executor, and received half of all land and outdoor moveable estate. His daughters Joyce and Martha each received £13 5s 8d. Joyce also received half the personal estate, half the house and barn, and the use of half the land as long as she was single. At her death or marriage, her inheritance was to go to her brother Samuel. The household effects were divided evenly between Samuel and Martha.2

     George Abbott was born on 28 July 1691 in Andover, Essex Co., Massachusetts.1 He married Rebecca Swan, daughter of Eben Swan, on 2 February 1714/15 in Cambridge, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts.2 He died about 1771 in Bennington, Vermont.2
     He was a blacksmith.2 After their marriage he and his wife Rebecca lived in Cambridge, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts.2 On 25 November 1715 he bought 1/2 acre in Cambridge for 40s, under the condition that he build a house and settle there, which he did.2
     He was left £5 in the will of his father George, dated 1 October 1724 and proved 7 December 1724, in addition to what he had already received.1
     On 3 December 1725 he sold his one-acre parcel in Cambridge, including his house, barn, blacksmith's shop, and tools, to Ebenezer Swan, Jr., for £25 10s.2 In 1731 he was a town officer in Framingham, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts.2
     He was one of the early settlers of Hardwick, Worcester Co., Massachusetts, and in the assignment of land on 26 December 1733 drew 100 acres on the east side of the river.2 He and his wife Rebecca lived there from 1733 to 1761.2 He was chosen constable on 9 February 1737, and on 30 June 1738 was ordered to provide a jail. He was a selectman in 1749.2 On 25 April 1740 he sold 70 acres in Hardwick to Edward Sumner of Roxbury for £105.2 He sold about 80 acres in Hardwick to John Hobart for £107 on 23 October 1753.2
     He was an original member of the First Church in Hardwick.2 He and his wife Rebecca later joined the "Separate Church," and probably moved with the church and all its members to Bennington, Vermont, in 1761. The church was officially organized there on 3 December 1762, the first formal church in Vermont.2
     He and Rebecca had the following known children: Jacob (b 25 January 1715/16), George (b 2 October 1718), Rebecca (bap 24 June 1721, d young), Rebecca (bap 22 November 1724), Samuel (bap 12 March 1726/27, d 7 August 1748 of a bullet wound at Fort Massachusetts during the French and Indian War), Sarah, Isaac (b abt 1736), Ruth (bap 8 May 1737), Timothy (b abt 1738), Mary (bap 7 June 1741, d 5 May 1753).2

     On 25 October 1723 Uriah Abbott received property in Andover, Essex Co., Massachusetts, from his father as a gesture of "parental love, good will, and affection," and for "other good causes and considerations." This included his father's house, a new barn, half the orchard, and various other parcels of land.1 He was named as executor of his father's will, dated 1 October 1724 and proved 7 December 1724, and was to receive what remained of the estate after the other legacies were satisfied.1
     He was a shoemaker and farmer in Andover.2 He served as field-driver 1716-1718; tithingman 1725/26 and 1746/47; highway surveyor 1726-1730, 1733-1739; fence-viewer 1732-1734, 1736, 1737, 1740-1743; and constable 1748 and 1749.2
     His will was dated 18 February 1768 and probated 8 May 1770, with his son John as executor and principal heir. He also left, to his sons Uriah and William, his clothes to be divided equally, plus one cow each. To his grandchildren Dudley, John, Josiah, Sarah, Steven, and Elizabeth Stearns he left all his household effects, except for a small iron kettle and some casks, to be divided equally.2
     He and Sarah had the following known children: John (b 10 March 1724/25), Sarah (b 7 December 1726, d 5 November 1766), Elizabeth (b 3 August 1728, d 9 February 1750), Uriah (b 20 August 1729, d 14 September 1729), Mary (b 5 November 1733, d 7 October 1736), Uriah (b 29 September 1735), William (b 20 October 1738).2

The cemetery is now neglected and overgrown. There are four graves in his lot, with one stone. It says he died without issue, and has the epitaph, "From torturing pains and anxious cares / he rests where Jesus lay. / Go live for God and waite to see / the resurrection day."2
     He moved to West Brookfield, Massachusetts, in 1720, where he was a carpenter, and became a prosperous farmer.2 On 17 January 1721 he bought 60 acres of land there for £60.2 On 23 May 1723 he sold land lying north of his own land in Brookfield to his brother Moses for £35.3 He was also quite generous to his nieces and nephews, and in 1747 deeded half his land to his brother Obed's son Jonathan.2
     He was left £15 in his father's will, dated 1 October 1724 and proved 7 December 1724, in addition to what he had already received.1
     He served in the French and Indian War in 1752, 1753, and 1758. On 9 August 1757 he was Captain of a company that came to the relief of Fort William Henry.2
     On 31 January 1754 he was a member of a committee in Brookfield that bargained with Seth Bannister for land for a meeting house. That same year he signed a petition opposing the division of the first parish.2
     In 1770 he sold his farm to Nathaniel Gilbert of Brookfield for £400, except for a half interest left for his widow during her lifetime.2
     His will was dated 27 September 1770 and proved 20 May 1771. His wife Ruth and Nathan Gilbert were executors. In it, he left: to his wife Ruth, the sum of £120, half his land, buildings, household effects, and movables (except for farm tools, notes, and bonds), and his pew in church; to Nathan Gilbert, his farm tools, livestock, notes, and bonds; to Jemima Kindrick, £6 13s 5d when she came of age or married.2

     Obed Abbott was born on 16 March 1696/97 in Andover, Essex Co., Massachusetts.1 He married Elizabeth Tarbell, daughter of John Tarbell and Mary Nurse, on 1 February 1721/22 in Salem, Essex Co., Massachusetts.2,3 He died on 11 May 1772 (1773, according to his gravestone) in Bedford, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, at age 75.3
     He lived in Andover, Salem, and Billerica (now Bedford), Massachusetts.2 He was a weaver and yeoman.2
     On 13 January 1721 he purchased for £60 the rights of his future wife Elizabeth Tarbell to the estate of her "bro. ___ Tarbell."2,4 On 9 November 1723 (or possibly 29 November 1723) he bought some land in Andover, Essex Co., Massachusetts, the acreage unknown, from his father for £60.5 He was also left four parcels of land in his father's will, dated 1 October 1724 and proved 7 December 1724.1
     On 8 September 1725 he bought a house and several tracts of land in Bedford, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, from Nathaniel Hudson for £256. This was made up of 19 acres with the house, 30 acres of the Oakes farm, 8 acres of meadow, and 6 acres of upland.2
     In Bedford he became prominent in the foundation of the town and church. He was: fence viewer from 1729-1731 and in 1750; tithingman in 1732 and 1738 (Abbott has 1832 and 1838 but this is obviously a misprint); constable in 1733, highway surveyor in 1735, 1739, 1742, 1756, and 1758; moderator of the town meeting in 1739, 1746, 1750, 1752, 1756, 1768, and 1771; selectman in 1739; grand juror in 1745; town treasurer from 1746-1750 and in 1756; assessor in 1749; deer reeve in 1754; warden in 1761; a member of the school committee in 1741, 1742, 1744, 1745, 1750, 1751, and 1761. He was also a member of many town and church committees.2 From 1741 to 1743 he received £4 16s 1d from the town as bounty for squirrels and birds.2
     His will was dated 4 January 1757 and proved 8 January 1773. The executor was his son Moses. He left: to his son Jonathan, £26 13s 4d; to each of his daughters Sarah Stearns and Elizabeth Cutler, £13 6s 8d, plus 1/3 of his household effects; to his daughter Mary, £44, 1/3 of his household effects, plus a room as long as she remained single. The rest of his estate was left to his son Moses.2
     He and Elizabeth had the following known children: Jonathan (b 1 April 1723), Elizabeth (b 5 February 1724/25, d young), Moses (b 13 January 1727/28, d 22 November 1809), Sarah (b 22 April 1729, d 9 January 1815), Elizabeth (b 16 March 1730/31, d 12 April 1773), John (b 4 February 1732/33, d 27 November 1756), Mary (b 16 February 1734/35).2,3

     Moses Abbott was born on 14 February 1698/99 in Andover, Essex Co., Massachusetts.2 He married Bathsheba Gilbert, daughter of Thomas Gilbert and Martha Barns, on 5 February 1725 in Brookfield, Massachusetts. They were married by Rev. Cheney of the Church of Christ in Brookfield.3 He died before 1791 in Greenwich, Hampshire Co., Massachusetts.3
     He was a joiner and yeoman.3
     From 10 September 1722 to 26 November 1722 he served as a private in Capt. Samuel Partridge's Co., stationed at Brookfield and Brimfield, Massachusetts.3
     He was left £5 in his father's will, dated 1 October 1724 and proved 7 December 1724, in addition to what he had already received.1
     He bought land in Brookfield, Massachusetts, in 1722.3 On 23 May 1723 he bought additional land in Brookfield from his brother Jacob, lying north of Jacob's land, for £35.3 On 30 May 1728 he exchanged some land in Brookfield with Thomas Gilbert.3
     In 1749 he and others petitioned to split off part of Brookfield to form the town of New Braintree, Worcester, Massachusetts. The petition was granted in 1751, and his land, along with that of seven others, joined the new town.3 On 3 December 1771 he and his son Aaron sold 30 acres in New Braintree to John Nye for £85 6s 8d.3
     On 4 March 1780 he sold his farm in New Braintree to John Nye for £3,000.3 He moved to Greenwich, Hampshire Co., Massachusetts, where he and his son Aaron bought about 200 acres, plus buildings, on 2 June 1780 for £2,750.3

     Peter Abbott was born on 27 July 1701 in Andover, Essex Co., Massachusetts.1 He married first Lydia Gilbert, daughter of Samuel Gilbert and Lydia Barns, in 1730 in Brookfield, Hampshire Co. (now Worcester Co.), Massachusetts.2 He married second Rachel Stevens in 1759 in Brookfield, Worcester Co., Massachusetts.2
     He was a yeoman in Brookfield, Worcester Co., Massachusetts.2 He was left £10 in his father's will, dated 1 October 1724 and proved 7 December 1724, in addition to what he had already received.1
     On 13 November 1725 he bought 80 acres of land on the south side of the Quaboag River adjoining Quaboag Pond in Brookfield, Hampshire Co. (now Worcester Co.), Massachusetts, for £60.2 On 11 November 1760 he deeded half of his real estate, 90.5 acres, to his son Joel.2
     He served as a private under Col. Shadrack Walton from 17 July 1722 to 14 November 1722, and under Col. Thomas Westbrook from 22 November 1724 to 23 December 1724.2 Over 50 years later, in a list dated 30 June 1778, he was credited with 4 1/2 months service for the 3rd precinct in Brookfield during the Revolutionary War. He may have helped guard military stores in Brookfield, since this was something older men could do.2
     His will was dated 27 April 1744 and proved 26 April 1785.      After their marriage she and her husband George lived in Cambridge, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts.1 They lived in Hardwick, Worcester Co., Massachusetts, from 1733 to 1761.1
     She and George joined the "Separate Church," and probably moved with the church and all its members to Bennington, Vermont, in 1761. The church was officially organized there on 3 December 1762, the first formal church in Vermont.1
