Edwin Perry Clements was born on 15 September 1858 in Allegan Co., Michigan.1,2 He married Lulu Luzetta Johnson, daughter of Stafford Hiram Johnson and Martha B. Burlingham, on 18 December 1880 (Edwin's obituary erroneously says 19 December) in Watson Twp., Allegan Co., Michigan.3,4,1 He died on 26 January 1944 (the California Death Index says 27 January) in Ontario, San Bernardino Co., California, at age 85 from a stroke.1,5 He was buried at Bellevue Memorial Park in Ontario, San Bernardino Co., California.6
From 1877 to 1888 he taught school in Allegan Co., Michigan, in the winter, and worked as a carpenter in the summer, learning fine cabinetry work from his father.1,2
About 1888 he and his wife Lulu moved to Ord, Valley Co., Nebraska, where according to family tradition they lived for a time in a sod house.1,2,7 They are listed in Ord in the censuses from 1900 to 1940, on their own from 1900 to 1930, and with their daughter Dorothy's family in 1940.8,9,10,11,12
After moving to Nebraska he served as deputy clerk in Valley Co. for about a year2, then in 1889 began studying law with his brother Elliot.2,1 He was admitted to the bar in 1890, and he and Elliott practiced law together until 1903. After a year working alone, he and another brother, Arthur, formed the law firm Clements Brothers. In 1911 he again went into independent practice.2
In 1920 he was elected district judge in Nebraska's 11th District. He took the oath of office on 18 June 1920, and sold his law practice to attorney E. L. Vogletanz the following day. He continued to serve in that office until his retirement in 1940.2,1,13 His obituary describes him as "one of Nebraska's most outstanding district judges, having far the fewest cases reversed of any judge. ... His cases were not allowed to drag along on technicalities, for [he] would see the point and chop through fancy arguments straight to it, reaching decisions quickly, but justly."1
Soon after his retirement, he and Lulu moved to Ontario, San Bernardino Co., California,1,14 where in 1935 he and his sons Alan and Edwin had purchased a lumber yard that was being managed by Alan.15
His hobbies and interests included football, baseball, golf, bridge, reading, gardening, and fishing.2,1

Glenora Luella Mayo was born on 4 August 1871 (her death certificate says 4 August 1872) in South Haven, Van Buren Co., Michigan.3,4,1,2 She was married by A. E. Ketchum, Minister, to Julian Deyoe Johnson, son of Stafford Hiram Johnson and Martha B. Burlingham, on 1 January 1892 in South Haven, Van Buren Co., Michigan.1 She died on 26 January 1941 at home in Pontiac, Oakland Co., Michigan, at age 69 from a heart attack.2 She was buried on 29 January 1941 at Perry Mount Park Cemetery in Pontiac, Oakland Co., Michigan.2
After their marriage, she and her husband Julian lived in South Haven, Van Buren Co., Michigan.4,5 They later moved to Pontiac, Oakland Co., Michigan, probably between 1910, when they were listed in South Haven in the census, and 1912, when their daughter Florence was married and listed her residence as Pontiac.5,6 They are listed there in the censuses from 1920 to 1940. Their sons Leo and Archie were living with them in 1920 and 1930 (Leo was apparently separated from his first wife in 1920, and from his second wife in 1930, and Archie was single). In 1940 Leo was again (still?) with them, as was their widowed daughter Florence Weber.7,8,9
