She is listed in the 1850 census, before her marriage, living with her uncle James Dana (her mother's brother) and his wife Pamela in Brighton, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts.7
She and her husband Ezra are listed in Newton, Middlesex Co., in the 1855 and 1865 state censuses, and the 1870 federal census. (They have not been found in 1860.) Living with them in 1855 was Bridget Carroll (age 25), and in 1865 was Catherine Collins (21), both probably servants.8,9,10 They are listed in Sherborn, Middlesex Co., in the 1880 census, along with Jennie Robertson (17), a housekeeper, and Patrick Wall (60), a farm laborer.11
At some point after her husband's death in 1898 she moved in with her daughter Amelia and her husband Henry Frost in Brookline, Norfolk Co., Massachusetts, and is listed with them there in the 1900 and 1910 censuses.4,12

He was born on the family farm in Springfield Twp., Sangamon Co., Illinois, that was originally settled by his grandfather Lewis McKinnie in 1827, and lived there all of his life.7 He was a farmer, with 80 acres in Section 18 of Springfield Twp.2 In 1880 his parents and sister J. F. were living with him there, along with boarders G. Huntley (age 17), Martha McKinney (age 19, born in Illinois, parents born in England), and Mary Jones (age 50, born in Virginia, and probably his mother's sister). Next door was his uncle William McKinnie and his family.3 He and his second wife Sophia are listed there in the censuses from 1900 to 1920, with their daughters Eleanor and Bernice in 1900, and with Bernice in 1910.9,10,11
He was interested in education, and held office in the local school system.2

After their marriage Ralph McKinney Wise and his wife Gladys lived with Gladys's mother in Decatur, Macon Co., Illinois.3 He was then manager of the John D. Barnhart potato chip factory3, and in 1930 he was manager of a gas station.5

He attended the German school off and on up to age 14, and public school in the winters from age 16 to 21.4 He and his wife Elizabeth were living in Deer Creek Twp., Carroll Co., Indiana, in July 1870.5 They apparently moved to Cerro Gordo, Piatt Co., Illinois, sometime between then and Aug 1871, when their first child was born.5,6 In 1891 he owned a total of 446 acres of land, including 120 acres at his home in section 13 of Willow Branch Twp., Piatt Co., Illinois.4 He served as school director.4 He and his wife Elizabeth were active members of the German Baptist Church.4
