     John K. Wise was born on 27 April 1873 in Cerro Gordo, Piatt Co., Illinois.^3,2,4 He married first Clara Gross, daughter of George Gross, on 2 June 1903 at the home of the bride's sister Mrs. J. W. Strauss in North Manchester, Wabash Co., Indiana.^5,6 He married second Anna Mary Farnsworth, daughter of Enos Farnsworth and Susan A. Nesbitt, on 7 January 1940 in San Angelo, Tom Greene Co., Texas.^7,8 He died on 9 July 1956 at Decatur and Macon County Hospital in Decatur, Macon Co., Illinois, at age 83.^2,3 He was buried at Pine Lake Cemetery in La Porte, LaPorte Co., Indiana.²
     In 1900 he was living as a boarder with David Krisher and his wife in North Manchester, Wabash Co., Indiana (listed in the census as John W. Wise), and working as a furniture merchant.⁹ After their marriage, he and his first wife Clara moved to La Porte, LaPorte Co., Indiana, and are listed there in the censuses from 1910 to 1930.^10,11,12 He was working in a saw mill in 1910¹⁰ and as a bookkeeper for McLellan Buck & Wise Co. when he registered for the World War I draft in 1918¹³, owned a furniture factory in 1920¹¹, and was an insurance agent in 1930.¹²
     He and his second wife Anna moved from La Porte to Decatur, Macon Co., Illinois, in 1941.^8,2
     His estate was valued at $119,000. He left a quarter section of land in Piatt Co. to his son Willard J. Wise of Glen Ellyn, Illinois. After Willard's death the land was to go in equal shares to John's grandchildren John W. Wise of Kenmore, New York, and Marjorie Sullivan of Glen Ellyn. He also left $2000 to his sister Mary Neff, and $500 to his housekeeper Pearl F. Sensenbaugh. The rest, including $27,000 in personal property, was to go to his son Willard.¹⁴

     Lewis W. Wise was born on 28 December 1875 in Cerro Gordo, Piatt Co., Illinois.^2,3 He married Jennie Bowdle on 30 November 1905.³ He died on 2 November 1950 at age 74.^2,3

     Mary Catherine Wise was born on 14 November 1878 in Cerro Gordo, Piatt Co., Illinois.^2,3 She married Eugene Neff on 11 January 1930 in Watseka, Iroquois Co., Illinois.³ She died on 20 September 1973 in Piatt Co., Illinois, at age 94.³ She was buried at East Frantz Cemetery in Piatt Co., Illinois.⁴

     Leonard E. Wise was born on 3 February 1883 in Cerro Gordo, Piatt Co., Illinois.^2,3 He married Ethel Dudley.³ He died on 2 January 1977 in Grand Junction, Mesa Co., Colorado, at age 93.³

     Clara Gross was born on 4 March 1867 in Navarre, Stark Co., Ohio.² She married John K. Wise, son of Jacob Wise and Elizabeth Kuns, on 2 June 1903 at the home of the bride's sister Mrs. J. W.      Anna Mary Farnsworth was born on 11 October 1871 in Milmine, Piatt Co., Illinois.¹ She married first George W. Hay on 10 October 1888 in Milmine, Piatt Co., Illinois.³ She married second John K. Wise, son of Jacob Wise and Elizabeth Kuns, on 7 January 1940 in San Angelo, Tom Greene Co., Texas.^2,1 She died on 23 April 1948 at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur, Macon Co., Illinois, at age 76.^1,4 She was buried at Fairlawn Cemetery in San Angelo, Tom Greene Co., Texas.¹
     She and her second husband John moved from La Porte, LaPorte Co., Indiana, to Decatur, Macon Co., Illinois, in 1941.^1,5

     Jennie Bowdle was born on 23 November 1876.¹ She married Lewis W. Wise, son of Jacob Wise and Elizabeth Kuns, on 30 November 1905.¹ She died on 11 December 1964 in Piatt Co., Illinois, at age 88.¹

     Eugene Neff was born on 28 September 1871 in Mt.      He and his wife Catharine and family are listed in the census of 1850 in Ross Twp., Clinton Co., Indiana.⁵ In the spring of 1856 they moved to Willow Branch Twp., Piatt Co., Illinois.⁶ They are listed there in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 censuses. In 1870 Henry Michael (age 22, a farm laborer) and David Near (age 21, a farmer) are listed as living in the same household. In 1880 Mahala Nash (age 13, a servant) and John Wine[?] (age 22) were living with them.^7,8,9 He is listed there in 1900 with his second wife Elizabeth, living next to his son Jacob.¹⁰ He helped found the German Baptist Church in Willow Branch Twp.⁶ Politically, he was a Republican.⁶

     Catharine Wolf was born on 18 May 1827 (or 16 May 1828) in Montgomery Co., Ohio.^1,3 She married her cousin Lewis W. Kuns, son of John Kuns and Hannah Wolf, on 4 April 1847 in Clinton Co., Indiana.¹ She died on 28 September 1894 in Piatt Co., Illinois, at age 67.¹ She was buried at East Frantz Cemetery in Unity Twp., Piatt Co., Illinois.¹

He was "held in high esteem by all who knew him."^6,7,3 He was buried at the Wise Cemetery in Carroll Co., Indiana.^3,8
     He and his first wife Catherine lived in Deer Creek Twp., Carroll Co., Indiana.^9,10,11

     Leonard Wolf Jr. was born on 14 September 1794 in Huntingdon Co., Pennsylvania.³ He married Elizabeth Wagoner, daughter of John Wagoner and Esther Cripe, on 2 June 1816 in Montgomery Co., Ohio.⁴ He died on 30 August 1853 in Clinton Co., Indiana, at age 58.³ He was buried at Blickenstaff Cemetery in Ross Twp., Clinton Co., Indiana.³
     In the fall of 1835, Leonard Wolf Jr. and his wife Elizabeth moved to Clinton Co., Indiana, settling near Edna Mills.³

     Hannah Wolf was born in 1791 in Huntingdon Co., Pennsylvania.¹ She married John Kuns, son of John George Kuns Jr. and Elizabeth Cripe, on 13 February 1816 in Montgomery Co., Ohio.¹ She died on 1 November 1858 in Clinton Co., Indiana.^1,3 She was buried at the Wise Cemetery in Carroll Co., Indiana.^3,1
     She and her husband John moved to Carroll Co., Indiana, arriving on 11 October 1826. They settled on land in Rock Creek that her husband had purchased at a land sales event in Crawfordsville, Montgomery Co., Indiana, in 1824.^1,4 She and her husband John are listed in Carroll Co. in the 1850 census, with their daughter Hannah. Also living with them was George Duke, age 26.⁵

     Elizabeth Wolf was born in 1786 in Huntingdon Co., Pennsylvania.¹ She married Samuel Wise, son of John Wise and Mary Cripe, about 1807 in Montgomery Co., Ohio.¹ She died on 13 February 1839.^1,3 She was buried at the Wise Cemetery in Carroll Co., Indiana.^3,1
     She and her husband Samuel and their family moved to Deer Creek Twp., Carroll Co., Indiana, about 1827.¹

     Leonard Wolf was born before 1755 in Pennsylvania.¹ He married Catharine Cripe, daughter of Jacob Cripe and Elizabeth Ulrich, about 1780 or 1781.¹ He died on 7 September 1835.¹ He was buried at Forney Cemetery, southwest of Dayton, Montgomery Co., Ohio.¹
     He was of German descent.¹ On 15 November 1785 he acquired 300 acres of land, known as Wolf's Hill, on the Frankstown Branch of the Juniata River in Frankstown Twp., Bedford Co. (later Huntingdon Co., then Blair Co.), Pennsylvania.¹ In 1788 he owed 12 shillings in state tax, and 6 shillings in county tax, on property in Huntingdon Co. valued at £254, including two horses, three cattle, and 300 acres of land.¹ On 12 March 1791 he was appointed Constable in Frankstown Twp.¹
     He moved to Montgomery Co., Ohio, about 1802, settling initially in Jefferson Twp., and later moving to Madison Twp.¹ He was chosen as a deacon for the Lower Miami Church in 1803.¹ He gave a small piece of his land to the German Baptist Society for use as a cemetery, where he was later buried.¹

     Catharine Cripe was born about 1764 possibly in Pennsylvania.¹ She married Leonard Wolf about 1780 or 1781.¹

     Jacob Cripe was born about 1712.¹ He married Elizabeth Ulrich about 1740.¹ He died in 1801 in Huntingdon Co., Pennsylvania.¹
     His surname may have been Greib.¹ He immigrated from Germany on the ship Richard and Elizabeth, and arrived in Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co., Pennsylvania, on 28 September 1733.¹ He was a cooper.¹ In 1738 he was living in Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania, near the area that later became Hanover Twp. in York Co.¹ He was one of the founders of the Little Conewago congregation of German Baptists in the area.¹

     She and her children moved to Tippecanoe Co., Indiana, in 1834.²
