He came to Carroll Co., Indiana, from Ohio, with his parents in the spring of 1829.1 He and his second wife Hannah lived in Woodford and Piatt Co., Illinois.1

She and her husband John moved to Kansas in 1883.1 In 1889 they moved again, to Oklahoma, where they began homesteading in Logan Co., northwest of Guthrie.1 They had nine children, but names are known for only seven: Joseph H. In 1881 James Rufus Henricks became a deacon in the Church of the Brethren.2 He and his wife Christena moved to Wichita, Sedgwick Co., Kansas, in 1901.2 They later moved to Caldwell, Sumner Co., Kansas.2 They had the following known children, all born in Piatt Co., Illinois: a son (b and d 28 November 1880), Flora Almeta (b 3 April 1882, d 15 October 1955), a daughter (b and d August 1883), Ida May (b 26 July 1884, d 9 September 1964), Harvey J.
