Biography*: "One of the notable pioneer settlers in this district was Donald McLeod, the progenitor of all the McLeods of this place. In the year 1791 he came from the Isle of Eigg, Scotland, to Parrsboro, Nova Scotia, where he prepared a home for himself and his family. After staying and working there for seventeen years he could not see any near prospect of getting a priest stationed there, and fearing his children would loose there reliogion, he decided to move, from that place, leaving all the improvements of seventeen years behind him. In 1808 he came with his family to Broad Cove and took up a large tract of land at Broad Cove Marsh. He drove six head of young cattle from his former home at Parrsboro to his new home at B. C. Marsh."¹
