Mrs. Mary B. White 71
Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts
On Saturday, December 19, 1953, widespread regret and sadness was felt in Chestnut Hill, Mass., when word was received of the sudden death of Mrs. Mary B. (MacFarlane) White, following a severe heart attack. She was in her 71st year and a daughter of the late Alexander MacFarlane, Margaree Harbour and Flora MacNeil of Mabou, N. S. She was the last surviving member of a family of seven.
Mrs. White spent all her summer vacations at the old homestead at Margaree Harbour. There she loved the country life, the trees, the birds and wild flowers that was her garden. She became employed with Mrs. James D. Colt of Chestnut Hill, 26 years ago, there she attended cooking school for many years. She was a master cook and decorator.
The late Mrs. White was a charming person enjoyed the affection and esteem of all who knew her. A devout Catholic constant in the practice of her religious duties, a member of St. Martha’s Guild, gave freely to her church, helped poor children and the aged. Many Mass cards and beautiful floral offerings testified to the esteem in which she was held. To mourn her loss one niece in Detroit, Michigan. Also two grand nieces and one grand nephew.
Requiem High Mass at St. Ignatius Church, Rev. Father Murphy officiated. Interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury, Mass. R. I. P.2
