  At Dunvegan, Inverness Co., 29th January 1922, after a short illness of paralysis and kindred ailments – the only illness he ever knew – Neil McLellan in his 95th year. He was the last surviving member of the family of the late Archy McLellan (Gilleas puig McFhearchair) and his wife, Ann McEachern of Judique. He was born on the 9th of February 1827, and lived all of his life on his father’s farm at Dunvegan (formerly rear Broad Cove Marsh, where his industry, thrift and good management secured him a comfortable home, a home whose latchstring was always on the outside for comfort and entertainment of the needy and the way-farer. He was married in 1857 to Jessie, daughter of Archy MacLellan (Gilleaspuig Mc-au-tailear), Rear Dunvegan, who predeceased him by six years. Their union was a happy one, and they were blessed with a family of ten as follows: Mrs. Alex McMullin, Sydney; Mrs. George Hamblin, Boston; Mrs. John A. Beaton, Strathlorne: Mrs. Charles McLellan, Broad Cove, deceased: Mrs. John A. Beaton, Black River, deceased: Archy, deceased Laughlin, Boston; John, Inverness; Dan and Neil A. at home. The strength of his memory was remarkable, and his mind was clear up to the last. he was a good practical Christian, a kind neighbor and a valuable citizen. Fortified by the rites of the Church he passed calmly to his eternal reward. R.I.P.³
