[Unknown] Edson
Male, #268, Deceased, d. after 1870
Biographical Details
| Marr-Partners | [Unknown] Edson married Mrs. Gardner's mother [Edson]. Nothing is known of Edson's wife other than her New York birthplace.1 |
| Birth | He was born in Vermont.1 |
| Anecdote |
Ed Edson, ([Unknown] Edson's grandson), wrote " . . . my father [Gardner] was an only son with an only sister who had no children. I, as you know, am an only son who with an only sister who has no children and my son has an only son who has no sister at all, so you see the stalk is getting thinner."2
|
1827 | Birth of Child | His son, Gardner Martin Edson, was born on 29 July 1827 in New York. |
| Anecdote | In 1937, Ed Edson wrote, "I remember my grandfather, who was a great axman, telling of cutting down and burning 80 acres of magnificent hardwood timber in Ohio, and all he got out of it was selling the ashes for the potash they contained. The old gentleman went to his grave without ever suspecting what a Vandal he had been. Of course all his neighbors were doing the name thing as he was no better or worse then the rest. A little government planning in such a case might have helped no there is no reason that I know of to suppose there was anyone in the government at that time that had any more sense of conversation [probably "conservation] that my poor old granted [probably "than my poor old Grandad.]" (Ed was born in 1860.)3 |
After 1870 | Death | [Unknown] Edson died after 1870. The date and place of his death are unknown, but it is known that Ed Edson, born in 1860, remembered conversations with him and recounted at least one in a letter to George Burr.4 |
