At the time of the census taker's visit in June 1880, he was ill with scrofula (tuberculosis of the glands, joints, and bones).5
He and his second wife Louisa lived in Koylton Twp., Tuscola Co., Michigan. In 1920 a hired man, George Miles, was living with them.6,7,8 He was a farmer most of his life.2,6,7,8
He and his first wife Theresa had two known children, an unnamed daughter (b 22 February 1884, d 24 February 1884) and a son Lynn (b 23 December 1885, d September 1967).9,10,6,11

He went by the name Herbert.4,5 He and his first wife Louisa were living in Mayfield Twp., Lapeer Co., Michigan, in 19004 and 1910.5 In 1920 he was living as a widower with his son Harry and his wife, still in Mayfield Twp.6
He is listed in the 1930 census in Lapeer, Lapeer Co., Michigan, as married, but without his second wife Clara, who is listed in the same year as a widow living with her daughter Jane's family in Detroit, Wayne Co., Michigan.7,8

He went by the nickname "Eddie."5,6 He and his wife Margaret lived in Mayfield Twp., Lapeer Co., Michigan, probably from at least 1900 to 1910.5,6 They moved to the city of Lapeer in Lapeer Co. sometime between 1910 and 1920, where they lived until at least 1930.7,3 In 1900 Alfred Phillips, son of Edward's cousin Lewis Phillips, was living with them. Lydia Browne, a 24-year-old high school teacher, was boarding with them in 1920, and Glimesch Bogart, age 20, was rooming with them in 1930.5,7,3

In 1900, shortly after their marriage, Chauncey Ellsworth Dailey and his wife Cynthia were living with Cynthia's parents in Holland, Ottawa Co., Michigan.3 They were living in Ganges Twp., Allegan Co., Michigan, in 19106, Holland Twp., Missaukee Co., Michigan, in 19207, and Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo Co., Michigan, in 1930.8 He was working as a carver in a furniture factory in 1900, fruit farmer in 1910, general farmer in 1920, and janitor at a bread making plant in 1930.3,6,7,8

She and her husband Charles were living in Ganges Twp., Allegan Co., Michigan, in 1900 and 1910.6,7 Sometime before 1920 they moved to Holland, Ottawa Co., Michigan, where they were living in 1920 and 1930. In 1910 she and her husband Raymond were living in the rear of a several-family building at 3250 N. Clark Street in Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois.4 In 1920 they were living with two other families at 907 Fletcher St. in Chicago. Living with them were boarder Shanow Derby, age 36, and lodger Carl M. Swanson, age 35.5 They moved back to Michigan by April 1930, when they were living in Ganges Twp., Allegan Co. Boarding with them was John H. Hawley, age 40.6 In 1940 they were living in Saugatuck Twp., Allegan Co., Michigan.7

Cook, age 9.6 They rented farmland most of that time, until sometime between 1910 and 1920 when they purchased their own farm in Mecosta Co.5,6,9

He and his wife Henrietta were living in Wayland, Allegan Co., Michigan, in 1880, next to his father Benjamin.7 They were living in Hopkins Twp. in Allegan Co. in 1900 and 19104,8, and in Leighton Twp. in Allegan Co. in 1920.9 He was working as a carpenter in 18807, but was a farmer most of his life.4,8,9,10

She and her husband Frederick lived in Wayland, Allegan Co., Michigan, probably from at least 1880 to 1910.6,3,7 By 1920 they had moved to Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo Co., Michigan.8 They had no natural children, but did have an adopted daughter, Leita G., born April 1899.3
